What will taking part involve?

Thank you for considering contributing to Economy of Trust. To take part, we ask you to do two things: complete a short questionnaire about trust in your QA team, and collect a small set of team-level metrics from Jira.

Together, these two sources help us explore whether the way trust is experienced inside a team is connected with how quality work actually moves through the system.

What you will do

Two parts, one team-level picture.

We combine a measure of trust with practical data from the team's workflow. You do not need to prepare anything before expressing your interest.

Part 01 About 20 minutes

Complete a questionnaire about trust.

We will ask you a short set of questions about how trust works in your QA team: how decisions are made, how responsibility is delegated, how quality is verified, and when people feel able to rely on colleagues, processes, tools, automation, and AI.

What we are measuring: trust at the team level, not individual performance.

Part 02 From your Jira data

Collect a small set of QA workflow metrics.

We will ask you to use Jira data from your team to collect a few practical signals related to feature work, back-and-forth issue movement, overall bug volume, and defects linked to a feature.

Feature scope Identify the project, date range, and feature or epic used for the analysis.

Ping-pong Capture how often work moves back and forth during the path to completion.

Bug volume Count all bugs created in your team’s area during the selected period.

Bugs by feature Connect bugs to the selected feature or epic and distinguish testing defects from confirmed production defects where the data allows.

A practical note: The time needed depends on your Jira setup and access. Jira workflows differ between teams. We will share the collection instructions with you, and the extracted results should be checked manually. If your workflow does not capture a metric cleanly, that is useful context rather than a problem.

Before you start

You do not need perfect data.

We are interested in real QA teams and real working practices. Different teams configure Jira differently, so not every metric will look identical across organizations.

You have first-hand knowledge of how your QA or testing team works.
You can complete the trust questionnaire from the perspective of your team.
You or someone on your team can access the relevant Jira data.
You are comfortable sharing team-level research data, not individual performance data.
